CHIARA PITROLA / ASSOCIATE CURATOR NOVEMBER 2023

Chiara Pitrola is a hydrofeminist practitioner from Italy, working with rituals as a form of technology to explore ecological questions. She took a MA in Ecology Futures (NL) and has collaborated with cultural initiatives such as festivals and artistic residencies related to art, science, ecology and sound.

As a holobiont, she acknowledges the bodily transits that allow her body to regenerate, inviting through her artistic practice to do the same. She is interested in transcorporeal flows and contemporary witchcraft, while advocating for oral poetry as spell and imaginative tool.

She joined Joya: arte + ecología / AiR as associate curator to learn, witness and research their long term restoration project. As a hydrofeminist she has been struck by the local water scarcity and Joya’s inspiring vision on water management. Thinking along with the co-founders, she worked on how to convey and unpack the complexity of this unique off-grid hub. Among other things, she co-curated a transdisciplinary database, for people to learn about local practices of ecological renewal including ecofeminist perspectives.

Chiara Pitrola took a MA in Ecology Futures, a practice led research degree at the intersection of art and ecology. She works in the cultural field for festivals and artistic residencies related to art, science, ecology and sound. She gained experience in creative production, editorial, research and communication working for organizations such as Fiber Festival in Amsterdam and Wasteland Festival on waste ecologies in The Hague
