Nik Ramage is a sculptor based in rural South Wales who has been making mechanical sculptures for decades. His machines have drifted away from utility, becoming objects that have forgotten their purpose. Built from found objects, scrap, steel and machine parts, his works embrace imperfection, interaction and absurdity. Many invite audiences to push, pull or activate them, transforming viewers into participants. At Joya, Nik experimented with materials and movement inspired by the desert landscape, exploring clay, tree debris and sustainable power sources. He investigated wind, sand, solar, convection and human energy, allowing ideas and materials to evolve together experimentally.
