Korissa Frooman is a London-based American artist, whose practice moves between sculpture, photography, performance and sound. She explores the body as instrument and residue, using using fluids, impressions, and recordings to create unstable archives. Her work creates uncanny motorised reliquaries and ritual forms where desire, fear, religion, gender and power become entangled. At Joya, Korissa further extended research developed during her earlier Joya x RCA residency, bringing new animatronic systems, creative coding, and robotics into dialogue with embodied ritual. She explored how machines might perform rituals with or without the human body physically present, developing response systems through code. Her practice asks where embodiment resides when human gesture is displaced by machines.
