‘Bajo la Sierra Larga’ is a site-specific sculpture, and the first from the Souvenir series made to be presented outside.
The Souvenir series is an ongoing sculptural sequence that displays broken down materials in acrylic or glass vitrines. The materials for this sculpture have been taken from a nearby dry riverbed, and sorted by size, type and colour.
I grew up on the Isle of Wight, and as a child I would go to Alum Bay to fill glass bottles with coloured sands from the cliff face. Ever since, material and place have been inseparable.
Biography
Simon Linington is an artist dividing his time working between England, Spain and Mexico City. He has a BA (Hons) in Sculpture from Chelsea University of the Arts, London. In 2010 he was awarded the Emerging Artists Bursary Award by the Royal Society of Sculptors and exhibits internationally.

«Bajo la Sierra Larga» es una escultura concebida específicamente para este lugar y la primera de la serie Souvenir creada para ser expuesta al aire libre.
Souvenir es una serie escultórica en curso que presenta materiales fragmentados en vitrinas de acrílico o vidrio. Los materiales de esta escultura se recogieron en el cauce seco de un río cercano y se clasificaron por tamaño, tipo y color.
Crecí en la isla de Wight y, de niño, iba a Alum Bay para llenar botellas de vidrio con arenas de distintos colores procedentes de los acantilados. Desde entonces, para mí, el material y el lugar han sido inseparables.
Biografía
Simon Linington es un artista que reparte su tiempo y su trabajo entre Inglaterra, España y Ciudad de México. Es licenciado con honores en Escultura por el Chelsea College of Arts de Londres. En 2010 recibió la beca Emerging Artists Bursary Award de la Royal Society of Sculptors y expone internacionalmente.
