Royal College of Art (group residency) / Jozef Michalski / painting

Jozef Michalski (B.1999) is an Ana-Cartographer, delving deep into the realm of the Postdigital. He is presently undertaking an MA in Painting at The Royal College of Art.

Michalski’s ana-cartographic mapping interrogates the image as an "entropic intelligence" operating across machinic, material and environmental systems to form planetary mapping, whilst interrogating "post” as a temporal and ontological condition of visual fluctuation; a “paraimage field” consolidating the merging of digital and physical art through the innovative use of glitch as medium.

In his work, glitch transcends its conventional definition as a process, evolving into a dynamic spirit capable of inhabiting both digital and physical forms. This spirit serves as a catalyst for engaging in critical discourse on the political manifestations of accelerationism within the artistic domain, reshaping both digital and physical landscapes to facilitate visual discourse through art, aiming to accelerate the visual as an act of contemplation, intersecting technology, philosophy, politics, and expression in an evolving contemporary landscape.

In partnership with the Royal College of Art, this group residency at Joya: AiR was curated by guest artist Annie Edwards (GBA 26, MA RCA, BFA) www.annieedwards.com
